“It is the mission of Michael Besant Photography to provide excellent service at a fair price. To treat each wedding as though I were a guest of the couple and not a vendor. To grow as an artist and not become stagnant in an ever changing landscape of this business.”
--My Mission Statement
I want to take a moment to thank you for looking at my website. I hope that you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen in the way I photograph.
I have been taking pictures since I was given my first camera in high school. Before ever holding that camera I had been studying art, I had wanted to be a graphic artist, but once I discovered photography I knew it was in my blood. I found that all of my studies of art were easily incorporated into photography. I eventually took two years of photography at college where I was (finally) convinced that I had enough talent to pursue photography professionally.
I have been photographing weddings since 1999 and I average 25 to 30 wedding shoots per year. I don’t do this full time (my full time job still pays the bills), this is a weekend career that is an outlet for my creative energies. I have photographed weddings from Connecticut to Florida and as far west as Ohio.
You are not only hiring me for my talent with the camera, but also to be an unobtrusive part of your Wedding Day. My style is a ‘Photo Editorial’ style, which means I mix nice portraits with many candids. I will not keep you from enjoying your Wedding Day by being demanding of your time. If you want to spend a lot of time on photographs, yeah. If not, that’s okay too. I average over 1000 pictures a wedding. This doesn’t mean I take a lot to get a few nice shots for an album. I take that many because there usually is that much going on at a wedding. Most all of my clients say they have the hardest time picking which pictures to eliminate that they’d like to put in their albums.
I have found photographing people on the most important day of their lives to be very rewarding to me creatively. When photographing landscapes you can always come back another day to get the right shot. With wedding photography there is no coming back for another day to capture those special moments. I get one chance to capture those moments with a camera that will be their memories of a lifetime. The reward comes when I hear back from the couples after they’ve viewed their pictures and I hear how much they love the shots. That is what brings a smile to my heart.
The day is yours and your Wedding pictures should be a reflection of your day.
Thank you,
Michael Besant
